Frequently Asked Questions
About Massage

Where are you located and where do I park?

I am located inside Spectrum Studio and Seven Anchors Co in downtown Winter Haven. It is the building next door to Lucille's American Cafe. There is free street parking right out front of the building. However, if your appointment is during typical lunch or dinner times, you may have to park in the free parking lot in front of Haven Coffee.

What should I expect when I arrive on my first visit?

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to the start of your session. You will need to fill out a health history intake form. You can either download a copy here or one will be provided when you arrive. When you arrive, you can either check in at the front desk, or you can text me that you have arrived. Simply have a seat in the waiting area or feel free to browse in the shop.

2.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Contactless payment/touch-to-pay with card or phone, credit/debit cards, cash, or checks made payable to "Lisa Taylor".

3.

Does "deep tissue" mean hard pressure?

The goal of deep tissue is to access the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Your tolerance level will affect just how deep the therapist will work. It is not effective to work beyond this as your muscles will naturally tense and tighten, which is counterproductive. Sometimes the pressure will feel much heavier than it actually is if the area is particularly tender. Therefore, at times even medium to firm pressure will be deep enough to be effective for some.

4.

Does a massage need to be painful in order to be effective?

No. However, some discomfort may be necessary, but it should be accompanied along with the sensation of relief.  What some describe as a "good hurt". If it is too painful, your body will tense up to guard the area, making the area difficult to work and therefore counterproductive. Good communication regarding pressure between therapist and client during the massage is very important.

5.

How much clothing do I take off?

If receiving a full body massage, you would generally undress completely. It is ok to leave bottom underwear on if that is more comfortable for you. You are always draped appropriately with a sheet. Only one area at a time is uncovered to be worked on. Care is taken to never expose private areas.

6.

Is draping optional?

No, it is not optional. If you are concerned about

being too hot, I am happy to turn up tthe AC for you, uncover your arms, lower legs and feet.

7.

What is the difference between a massage therapist and a masseuse/masseur?

To massage therapists, there is a BIG difference. To us, it is education. Anyone can be a masseuse/masseur. It takes more work to become a massage therapist. We get a little sensitive about this topic because it feels insulting to be called a masseuse, but we know you don't mean it that way!

8.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes. Plastic gift cards can be purchased onsite. Gift cards can be purchased for any dollar amount and never expire.
